Dev Channel Update: 0.12.433.9

Dev Channel has been updated to version 0.12.433.9. The Chrome browser
version is 12.0.742.9. The Chrome Releases Blog posted about the dev browser update describing it as addressing UI, performance and Sync issues. The browser 12.0.742.0 and 12.0.742.5 updates are also relevant to this is the first Chrome OS release since they were released. This is shaping up to be a major bug fix release...

So Google, what's up with the release at 7:10am PDT? No complaints here but most releases happen in the late afternoon in my experience. Somebody must have had a really great cup of coffee this morning.

Update: there's a bug related to a partial update to the theme, the background color was changed but the status icons/text did not. The white on light gray is pretty harsh on the eyes. Quick fix for me was to switch to Google's Greyscale theme.

  1. Has anyone else had his Chrome OS theme (the frame) change from black to gray??? Is this a bug? I really prefer the black, especially with the white clock numbers and symbols on a gray background . . .

  3. Google talk now slides up the panel and turns it orange when you get a new chat with the panel minimized, which is awesome!

Also, panels cannot be easily dismissed after popping them up. Not sure if this is a design change or a regression.

I'm using this theme till the rest of the theme lands (probably in the next dev update).

  5. Thanks for the link, Jay. Did you choose this theme because it has a dark/black upper area, like the original? (I sure like it a lot better than the 0.12.433.9 default.)

  6. @Cougar: yes, it seemed most like the old theme to me though I didn't do a whole lot of looking...

  7. Fair enough. I suppose you just might have more to do in your life than look for the "perfect" cros theme. :)

  8. I think the new theme will be perfect once they update the text colors/status icons. It's nice to give something called Chrome a Chromish color :)

Try disabling one of the instances of Shockwave Flash in about : plugins --- libpepflashplayer.so likes to give me problems, so I leave it disabled.
